MA SREC market to be oversupplied in 2012?

Massachussetts SREC market appears to be heading towards an oversupply, similar to what has been seen in Maryland and New Jersey. At the current rate of 4MW of installed capacity per month, Massachussetts will have an approximate oversupply of 0.4MW of capacity by the end of the month and 2.1MW by the end of 2012.

California Utilities challenging net metering laws

While some solar arrays store their power in batteries to handle local loads, the vast majority of solar arrays rely on net metering to offset their electrical usage. Net metering, simply put, allows excess energy to be produced during peak sun hours to spin their meter backwards. When the owner is home at night, the power is pulled back from the grid and the meter spins forward. The result is a net power offset.
